FREE GIVEAWAY: Kashi Soft-Baked Squares

I was selected again to be part of a sample and free giveaway from Kiwi Magazine's Mom's Meet!  This time it is for Kashi Soft-Baked Squares.

The color looks a little off to me here.  It's really not a greenish hue!

When I saw the opportunity to apply for this product I was really excited because Ellie had JUST seen it in the grocery store and asked if we could get it.  I don't usually buy snacks like this so I said no.  Luckily, we were selected and Ellie got to try them after all!
Before I got the products I attended a webinar by Kashi which gave a little more information about the company and the product.  I'm a fan of Kashi products, especially their cereal so I was glad to learn a little more about the brand I've been feeding my kids.  Here's a crash course:  "Kashi foods feature a signature combination of seven whole grains and are natural, minimally processed, and free of highly refined sugars, artificial additives, and preservatives."  You can check out Kashi's Website or their Facebook page for more information on their products and some recipes.

Caden HIGHLY recommends their Strawberry Field Cereal--it's his ABSOLUTE favorite.  It's actually called "Caden cereal" in our house!  Anyway, I sent the soft-baked squares with the big kid in their lunches and Vince and I had ours here at home.  All three of the kids REALLY liked them.  "Good" was the description I got from them ,but I'll give you a little more than that to go on.   I told the kids they are brownies, but they're not.  They're a little dryer than a brownie would be and not as sweet.
I think the best thing about them is that they're made with sweet potatoes and black beans!  It looks like Kashi is joining the ranks of  sneaky moms and hiding good-for-you-food in something disguised as junk.  The black beans make the bars denser than you'd expect, but I thought, also a little more filling."Kashi’s Chocolate Soft-Baked Squares are a tasty and nutritious twist on a favorite soft-baked chocolate-y snack with 4g of fiber*, 10g of whole grains, and only 160 calories per square."
I liked the chocolate kind so much, I thought I'd give the Almond flavor a try too.  Ellie, Vince and I liked them, Caden gave a big thumbs down, which surprised and delighted me.  Surprised because he's usually game for most foods and delighted because it's a box of 5--less competition for that remaining bar!  (Sorry Evan, you're just reading about these bars now.  They've been hiding in the cupboard from you.  These things happen when you're gone at work all day!   Plus, you're not addicted to sweets like the rest of us!)

So here's the giveaway.  One winner will receive a free Kashi lunch tote and two vouchers for Kashi Products.  If you're interested in entering the giveaway, post a comment AND FOLLOW my blog.  I'll randomly select the winner on Saturday.

  1. Love Kashi products and haven't had a chance to try these yet. I have a terrible sweet tooth and am always looking for things that are a little healthier to satisfy it. :)
